MICROBLADING 101
Microblading is a hyper-realistic type of cosmetic tattooing. Using a pen-like device, pigment is implanted in-between the epidermis and the dermis layer of the skin allowing for crisp hair-like strokes. In contrast, cosmetic tattooing done with a machine goes deeper into the dermis layers resulting in a more diffused blended look.
The device is equipped with a disposable attachment that resembles a comb. Though a misnomer, this is what is commonly referred to as the "blade". The technician dips the "blade" into a cream-base pigment before stroking the pigment into the skin. For full description of the procedure, go to First Visit.
Microblading is a process that will require a minimum of 2 appointments scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart. In some cases, clients with extremely sparse or blonde natural eyebrows may require a 3rd appointment to achieve the desired look.
Unfortunately, eyebrow microblading is not suitable for everyone. You cannot get microblading if you are:
- under 18 years old
- pregnant or nursing (you should wait about a year after having a baby to get your eyebrows microbladed)
- fighting allergies
- diabetic
- on or have been on Accutane within the last 12 months
- prone to hypertrophic/keloid scarring
- on and have taken antibiotics within 7 days
- fighting off an infection
- diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder or any condition that affects your ability to heal or fight infection.
- have a liver condition/disease
